Usage limits and reset guides

Public reset announcements are easy to notice. The thing that usually decides whether you can keep working is the usage window inside your own product. This hub gathers the explainers that sit beside the trackers, so you can separate exceptional provider posts from the normal account windows that refresh on their own schedule.

Why these guides exist

The WhenReset.fyi trackers record publicly announced usage resets and banked reset credits for Codex, Claude and Grok Bot, and keep the original post attached whenever possible. That archive is useful for “was an exceptional reset announced recently?” It is not useful for “exactly when does my ChatGPT, Claude or Grok allowance return?” Mixing the two questions turns historical announcement gaps into a fake personal countdown.

The guide pages spell out where normal usage windows usually appear, what a public announcement may or may not cover, how a banked reset differs from an automatic refresh, and which account screens to check after you hit a limit. They are original explainers, not a longer version of the announcement list.

If you only want the latest posts, go back to a provider tracker. If you want the mechanism first, start here.

How to choose an entry point

First identify the product you are actually using: Codex / ChatGPT usage, Claude subscription session and weekly limits, or Grok chat, Grok Bot or the xAI API. Different products publish different reset rules and different places to inspect them.

Next decide whether you are reading an in-product limit message or a public social post. In-product messages usually describe your own window. Public posts may cover only some plans, regions or credits that have to be redeemed.

Then pick the article that matches the confusion: banked credits, exceptional versus normal resets, or a practical checklist for finding usage screens.
